Last August 2009, Atty. Marquez was appointed the youngest Deputy Court Administrator. He bested 17 aspirants for the position and was the overwhelming choice of the Supreme Court Justices. Less than six months later, in January 2010, in recognition of his hard work, dedication and commitment to the service, the Supreme Court Justices, in an unprecedented move, unanimously appointed him the youngest ever Court Administrator, with the rank of Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeals. He now has supervision over all 2,000 justices of the 3rd level courts and judges, and 27,000 court personnel across the country, many of them almost twice his age. And as if his hands are not full yet, he continues to be the Chief of the Public Information Office of the Supreme Court and its Spokesperson, and also the Chief of Staff of the Office of the Chief Justice.

He started his career in the Supreme Court as an apprentice in the office of Justice Abraham P. Sarmiento in February 1991 and moved up to his present position with stints under the offices of Senior Justices Ameurfina Melencio-Herrera, Josue Bellosillo and now Chief Justice Reynato S. Puno. He was also the Deputy Secretary, detailed at the Office of the Chairman, of the Senate Electoral Tribunal from 1998 to 2006.

He also heads various committees and projects in the Supreme Court, is an author of a number of law books and a law professor. Admitted as member of the Philippine Bar in March 1994, he is a product of the De La Salle University Grade School, and Ateneo de Manila University- High School Class in 1983, AB Economics in 1987 and Juris Doctor in 1993.

Gabrielle Giffords Profile, Picture

Gabrielle Giffords is an American politician. A Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives, she has represented Arizona's 8th congressional district since 2007. She is the third woman in Arizona's history to be elected to the U.S. Congress.

Giffords is currently serving her third term in the United States House of Representatives, having been re-elected in the 2010 midterm elections. Considered a "Blue Dog" Democrat, her stances on health care reform and illegal immigration were sources of attention for those opposed to her candidacy and have made her a recipient of criticism from various conservative groups. She has described herself as a "former Republican."

Giffords is a native of Tucson, Arizona, and a graduate of Scripps College and Cornell University. Prior to her election to Congress, Giffords served in the Arizona House of Representatives from 2001 until 2003 and the Arizona State Senate from 2003 until 2005, when she resigned to run for the seat held by then-Congressman Jim Kolbe. She also worked as an associate for regional economic development in New York City and as CEO of El Campo Tire Warehouses, a local automotive chain owned by her grandfather. She is married to former astronaut and Space Shuttle Commander Mark E. Kelly.

Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo? Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is a Filipino politician who served as the 14th President of the Philippines from 2001 to 2010, as the 12th Vice President of the Philippines from 1998 to 2001, and is currently a member of the House of Representatives representing the 2nd District of Pampanga. She was the country's second female president (after Corazón Aquino), and the daughter of former President Diosdado Macapagal.

She was a former professor of economics at Ateneo De Manila University where Noynoy Aquino was one of her students. She entered government in 1987, serving as assistant secretary and undersecretary of the Department of Trade and Industry upon the invitation of President Corazón Aquino. After serving as a senator from 1992 to 1998, she was elected to the vice presidency under President Joseph Estrada, despite having run on an opposing ticket.

After Estrada was accused of corruption, she resigned her cabinet position as Secretary of Social Welfare and Development and joined the growing opposition to the president, who faced impeachment. Estrada was soon forced from office by the EDSA Revolution of 2001, and Arroyo was sworn into the presidency by Chief Justice Hilario Davide, Jr. on January 20, 2001. She was elected to a full six-year presidential term in the controversial May 2004 Philippine elections, and was sworn in on June 30, 2004. Following her presidency she was elected to the House of Representatives, making her the second Philippine president—after Jose P. Laurel—to pursue a lower office after their presidency.

Who is Leila De Lima? On July 2, 2010, De Lima took over the helm of the Philippine Department of Justice. President Obama’s Uncle “Onyango Obama” Arrested for DUI

The half-brother of President Barack Obama’s father was arrested for drink-driving being held without bail‎ last week in Framingham, MA. He is being held by immigration officials. When asked whether he wanted to make a telephone call to arrange for bail he said: “I think I will call the White House.” Oy.

How embarrassing for the President. I bet he isn’t even close to these people at all.

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (AP) — President Barack Obama’s uncle was stopped on suspicion of drunken driving in Massachusetts, told police he planned to arrange bail through the White House and is being held without bail by federal immigration officials, authorities said Monday.


Onyango Obama, 67, was arrested last week in Framingham, about 20 miles west of Boston, after police said he made a rolling stop through a stop sign and nearly caused a cruiser to strike his sport utility vehicle.

Police said that after being booked at the police station, Obama was asked whether he wanted to make a telephone call to arrange for bail. “I think I will call the White House,” he stated, according to a police report filed in Framingham District Court.

Police said Obama, who is originally from Kenya and is the half-brother of the president’s late father, pleaded not guilty Friday and is being held without bail on a detainer from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. In a court document, ICE said Onyango Obama had an earlier deportation or removal order.

Simply Complicated

We all our tested at various times during our lifetime.  It seems like I am being tested moreso lately due to finances being really tight, and having questions regarding my faith.  Does your faith ever test you?  Do you ever question whether God has a plan for you?  Questioning things is a part of life. When Questions arise whether it be related to faith, politics, or just life in general it seems like the answers are out of my reach.  Growing up as a child life used to be so simple but since I entered into and have experienced adulthood for the past 15 or so years it just seems like life gets more complicated the older I get.  Growing up I remember people of different political views gathering together and having a good time.  Now that the country is so partisan it seems that it is hard to have a political conversation with another person who has the polar opposite view as your own without someone getting angry and lashing out at the other.  I know it's possible but I just don't think it happens nearly as often as it did 20 years ago.  Is working together the answer when our beliefs are so diametrically opposed to one another?  With our values being so different from one another?  Should one compromise their values in order to find middle ground with the other person's point of view? Is there even a way to compromise without compromising your values?

I thought that I would have gotten my Eagle Freedom Links done today but unfortunately that didn't happen so hopefully I will post them tomorrow.  My husband and I had talked for awhile about starting a blog together so when the blogger blackout occurred we thought that it was the opportune time to start it.  We have been working on the style of the blog over the weekend.  We will be adding links and other goodies to our blog shortly.  We decided to go with Wordpress instead of blogger so slowly but shorely we have been figuring out all the ins and outs of the wordpress format. Our blog's name is Catholibertarian.  Interesting huh?  Who would have thought that those two would go together?
